Saint Patrick’s Day is a weird holiday, right? It started as a celebration of the day that Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland, so obviously we celebrate it by wearing green, pinching people, drinking beer, and eating chocolate coins? Bizarre.
And of all of these things, the pinching really pisses me off. I think it’s mostly stems from the childhood horrors of being pinched (because what adult pinches another adult these days?), but it makes me so angry. And what do you do if you just aren’t a green person? Try to wear a teal shirt and hope that people give you the benefit of the doubt?
This year I took matters (and fibers) into my own hands and came up with a trendy and modern way to celebrate the holiday.

Cross-stitching has a bad rap for being a dusty grandma craft (apologies to all the grandmas out there). But in recent years, cross-stitch has evolved into all sorts of genres. There’s nerdy cross-stitch, profanity-ridden cross-stitch, activism cross-stitch, and that barely scratches the surface. This may be TMI but…my feet sweat. My feet sweat enough that I can’t wear any shoes that have open air spots but would still be considered shoes over sandals. You know, ones like these. If I do, by the end of the day, all of the moisture has collected so much dirt, you would think that I was walking barefoot in the tar pits. Nice visual, huh? So I gotta keep that ish covered.

Confession #1: I think tattoos are hot. Confession #2: I am a wimp AND bad at making up my mind AND look like a 12 year, so I will probably never get a tattoo.
However, that won’t stop me from playing my badass super cool alter ego every once in a while. Who says you need to make a lifetime commitment to feel cool? Instead, I just make my own temporary tattoos.
