It’s that time of year again! The time of year that if you live in Los Angeles, most of your small-talk is based around awards season. We’re talking about what we liked, what we didn’t like, how it’s possible that so-and-so did or didn’t like such-and-such. Basically, we can’t stop talking about movies. And all of this energy and gossip culminates on February 9th when a bunch of fancy (see: mostly out of touch) industry people get even fancier and hand out the fanciest of trophies to those they deem worthy.
Basically, I love it.

I’m not going to lie to you. I have definitely not seen as many Oscar nominated films this year as I have in years past. I saw plenty of movies this year but for some reason, the ones I loved weren’t nominated (I’m looking at you Sorry to Bother You).
But not seeing all of the movies never stops me from enjoying watching The Academy Awards. I cannot tell you the last time that I missed the Oscars. This is partly because I live in Los Angeles and partly due to years of working in the entertainment business, but honestly, I was watching the Oscars in my single-digit childhood years too. I can’t kick the habit.

Confession #1: I think tattoos are hot. Confession #2: I am a wimp AND bad at making up my mind AND look like a 12 year, so I will probably never get a tattoo.
However, that won’t stop me from playing my badass super cool alter ego every once in a while. Who says you need to make a lifetime commitment to feel cool? Instead, I just make my own temporary tattoos.

Have you heard of Galentine’s Day? I first heard of this amazing celebration from an episode of Parks & Recreation. Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, throws a yearly brunch on February 13th.
“What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave their husbands and boyfriends at home and come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus, frittatas!”
Ever since then, this holiday has taken off in the female community. It’s a great excuse to come together as women and celebrate each other, our friendships, and ourselves.
